Star Valley is surrounded by three National Forests, including the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Targhee National Forest and Caribou National Forest. The Snake River, Salt River and Greys River meet near Alpine to form the Palisades Reservoir.

You will find us located on the Wyoming/Idaho border—50 miles south of Jackson, Wyoming, and within 100 miles of Teton & Yellowstone National Parks.

Truly one of our country’s most beautiful treasures, historically and culturally-rich Star Valley boasts an abundance of wildlife, outdoor recreational opportunities, and spectacular scenery. A state feeding ground south of Alpine hosts hundreds of elk throughout the winter, across the highway from protected wetlands that preserve a habitat for a variety of waterfowl. Among many outdoor wonders hidden in the Wyoming and Salt River Mountain Ranges, Intermittent Spring, near Afton, is the largest of only three cold water geysers in the world.
